Ms. Hall grew up in a large and talented family with her parents, one brother and eight aunts and one uncle. All of them were creative and talented in many ways from woodworking to sewing. Her mother was also very creative throughout her life. Among the many things that her mother did was to design and sew beautiful doll clothes for Sandra's dolls. As Sandra grew up, her mother continued making doll clothes for other little girls and their loving grandmothers to enjoy and to love. Sandra learned to sew on her mother's old treadle sewing machine that had been moved to the basement when her mother got the new electric model. From there she began doing crewel, cross-stitching and other types of hand work. Following college, Sandra taught American and Ancient History, Reading and English for twenty-two years. Teaching for her was filled with fun and excitement. The joy of creating new ideas and projects to grow the joy of learning and knowledge in a student was a gift from God.
The creativity from her mother exploded in many new ways after Sandra married and started a family. Sandra sewed Christmas table cloths, Christmas tree skirts, curtains, slip covers, table cloths, seasonal table decorations, and infant and children's clothes. Sandra collected wonderful vintage linens and handwork items throughout the years from many sources. Many of these she saved from being destroyed or thrown away. These items were beautifully made and Sandra never thought of doing anything with them but enjoying their beauty and usefulness.
When Sandra retired from teaching she didn't know what to do with all of the time she had on her hands. She wanted something that was creative and as fulfilling as teaching. Her daughter provided the answer when she got engaged and wanted special gifts made for the members of her wedding party. The gifts were to be different and unique and since Sandra had collected vintage lace, linens and notions for years, her daughter felt they would be perfect to use in the creation of these gifts.
The summer before her daughter married, Sandra designed and sewed the gifts. Each day she felt joy in her creations and the same excitement as when she had taught. Sandra's daughter's appreciation of the items as they were finished completed the enjoyment of what she had done. All of Sandra's efforts were further rewarded by the response from the wedding party and guests as they saw the gifts. Their responses made it all worthwhile.
At that moment, Sandra knew that a new career and business was born!
